About Bush Elementary

History & Namesake

Bush Elementary opened in 1996 and is located in the Alden Bridge Village of The Woodlands, Texas. The school is named for Barbara Pierce Bush, former First Lady of the United States to her husband, 41st President George H.W. Bush, and the mother of 43rd President George W. Bush. She was a strong advocate for literacy, launching the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy and visiting schools and libraries across the country. She made several trips to her namesake school in Conroe ISD before her passing in 2018 at the age of 92.
