History & Namesake

W. Robert Eissler Elementary will open in August 2025 as one of the two new K-6 campuses in Conroe ISD and will serve The Woodlands High School feeder zone. Our school is named for Rob Eissler, who dedicated 28 years to the public education system of Texas. During his years of service, he spent 18 years as a Conroe ISD Trustee, including two terms as President. He also served 10 years on the Public Education Committee of the Texas House of Representatives, including the last six as its chairman. Eissler was instrumental in the location of The Woodlands High School and Woodforest Bank Stadium, as well as attracting the first higher education system, Lone Star College, to the area. He was named one of the 25 Original Hometown Heroes for The Woodlands, The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1991, and Legislator of the Year by the Texas Council of Special Education Administrators. Eissler also received the Texas Foreign Language Association’s Distinguished Public Service Award, the Texas Art Education Association’s Governmental Award for Meritorious Service in the Arts, the Texas Music Educators Association Distinguished Service Award and the Champion for Free Enterprise Award by the Texas Association of Business three times.
