Grangerland Intermediate opened in 2008 in the Caney Creek High School feeder zone. Grangerland is an unincorporated community in east central Montgomery County encompassing the area surrounded the intersection of FM 3083 and FM 2090. It is located 10 miles southeast of downtown Conroe.
The area was founded by Dr. Edwin Granger in 1907, who came to Texas to escape the bitter cold of Chicago. During the oil boom of the 1930s, his sons, Don D. and Wyn Granger, built an oilfield camp with 36 houses, a grocery store, a service station, and a cafe. Don D. Granger's son, Don E., graduated from Crockett High School in 1948, and taught and coached in Conroe ISD. Upon retirement, he ran the family's hardware store until his passing in 2019 at the age of 90.
