History & Namesake

Hines Elementary opened in 2023 in the Woodson's Reserve neighborhood of the Grand Oaks High School feeder zone.

The school is named for Dr. Chris Hines, who retired as Deputy Superintendent in 2023, after a 20-year career in Conroe ISD. He served as principal at Oak Ridge High School, Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education and Associate Superintendent of Schools. Hines spent 40 years in education, taking his first teaching job after graduating from Texas State University in 1983. He also earned a Master’s degree from the University of Houston and his doctorate from Sam Houston State University.

Hines continues to serve in an advisory role for the district and maintains an office at his namesake school.
